Brake fluid warning

Featured Replies

I was driving home from work last night & I had a "brake fluid" warning come up on the dash & it also shows up on the main screen under the car menu, the brakes didn't feel as sharp as usual but the pedal didn't feel spongy.

I noticed in the service history that it's had the brake fluid changed in may & I was wondering if it's something to do with that, maybe it wasn't topped up enough after the brakes were bled or is it something else?

Brakes are a rather important part of the car and any warnings should not be ignored.

I would suggest that you check the level of the brake fluid immediately and top it up if necessary. If you are not confident enough or able to do this then get a trusted garage to do it for you. You will then need to check for any obvious leaks and monitor the situation however leaks at the brake and clutch cylinders can be very difficult to see.

Please do not ignore the warning as you could end up with no brakes which could be fatal!

Its going back to the dealers that I bought it from, it's down to them to sort it seeing as they changed the brake fluid & it's still under warranty.

So after a trip back to the dealers the car is fine, they basically admitted that they messed up when they changed the brake fluid, topped up the fluid & bled the brakes & they certainly feel better.

Don't forgot to ask for your free service/clean if they screwed up :P
