Convenience module fault?

Featured Replies

Most of the time, my remote central locking doesn't work- while it isn't working, nor does lights- left-on buzzer, dimming cabin lights, or radio auto turn off when key is removed. Locking itself works fine from button on centre console. Oddly, c/locking started working after car had been unused for a week, then failed a few days later. Any suggestions on what to look for? Car is 12 plate 1.2tsi urban model. Thanks, Brian

Is it the infamous wires broken problem between A pillar and the door?
Can you pull the boot off enough to see if that is the case?

Hi, I just tried searching for that problem, found many posts but none describing same symptoms as I've got. If there are any that you think are, please could you ppint me intheir direction? Thanks.

That causes many different problems because there are many wires in that loom, did you pull the boot back to check the loom?
Do all the switches operate correctly on the drivers door?

I will have a look in daylight tomorrow. Yes, all buttons work ok, most obvious problem is remote locking.

I don’t understand “12 plate” so the first question for me is  - how old are the batteries......vehicle and key fob?.

A '12 plate will have been registered March and August 2012 :)

Could be a number of things including the battery or damaged door loom. I'd start by:

- getting the battery checked

- trying the second key

- having it scanned with VCDS or similar for fault codes

No broken wires under rubber boot. Gave it all a good waggle while trying remote, nothing. Insulation is cracked on some cores, that must be some rubbish cable they used. Vehicle battery is ok, new batteries tried in both fobs, no chance to get it on diagnostics yet.
