Day violent jolt

Featured Replies

Hi all

Sorry thought better to start a separate topic as a separate issue. Any advice appreciated. The car is a 3.6 petrol 2014. One a handful of occasions I have been travelling at 30-40mph and either slowing down or accelerating and the car suddenly jolt violently. This seems to be related to the dsg changing gears. It happens suddenly and with enough force that one may lose control of the car of it not concentrating. Any ideas on what the issue is would be appreciated. Car was purchased 5 months ago from a dealer. It has a full service history including dsg service a year ago.

Hi have you tried a DSG reset; the DSG apparently learns you driving technique I am light on the throttle and the DSG doesn't like that some times feeling a bit jerky and snatchy worse when cold...

From a prevous post

Assuming you have had the oil changed have you tried a DSG reset?

Here's what worked for me on a 2.0tdi, 2012 MY option 2 worked for me!

Here is a procedure to reset DSG box:

VERSION 1
1 Put your key in the ignition and turn ignition to the on position (don't start the engine!)
2 Hold down the gas pedal pressing the button under the pedal for at least 20 seconds.
3 Let foot off pedal and start car. Be sure that you do not turn ignition off because that will void the reset
(not so sure it still works)

VERSION 2
a. put key in ignition and turn key to the position just before cranking
b. hold down the accelerator for 10s
c. let go of accelerator and turn key back to Off before turning it back to the position before cranking
If the reset is successful you will hear some shifting mechanical sounds for about 1 to 2s from the gearbox.

i did not hear the shifting sounds but the DSG was much better, and as it should be....good luck

hope this helps otherwise it could be expensive..Others with the V6 maybe better informed

Good luck

Roy

As mentioned on another thread - take the car back to the dealer QUICKLY:-

As per the Consumer Rights Act 2015 the law is on your side , especially in the first six months:-

"During the first six months after purchase, it's the responsibility of the seller to prove the fault wasn't there, not for you to prove that it was.

But after the first six months, the onus will be on you to prove that the fault was present from the day you bought the car.

If the attempt at a repair or replacement is unsuccessful, you're entitled to a refund.

But the car dealer can make a deduction from the refund after the first 30 days for 'fair use'."

Hi all

Thanks for the replies. I got my dates wrong! I got it in may so it's just over 3 months ago. Frustratingly it came with 3 months warranty and so I suspect they will argue about this. The smoke has definitely been happening at start up since soon after I purchased. It was not a Skoda dealer but another manufacturers dealer (car was traded in).

Re 3 months warranty - doesn't matter - The law changed in your favour in 2015. Take it back to the dealer you bought it from.
