Injectors

Featured Replies

Would someone no if the numbers on VCDS for the injectors should all be the same because 1 and 4 was a lot more than 2 and 3 on the vcds values if that makes sense

From: https://sites.google.com/site/1810martin/vcds-and-pd-tdi-engine-health-check

All 4 injectors should have similar figures as close to zero as possible.

E.g.

13, 1, Injection Quantity, Deviation Cyl. 1.  -0.28 mg/str

13, 2, Injection Quantity, Deviation Cyl. 2.  -0.49 mg/str

13, 3, Injection Quantity, Deviation Cyl. 3.  0.56 mg/str

13, 4, Injection Quantity, Deviation Cyl. 4.  0.21 mg/str

If one injector is well out of specification compared to the others it could be faulty or it could be a faulty cam lobe.

If all figures are all over the place it suggests worn camshafts.

It is hard to tell if an injector oddity is due to an injector fault or a camshaft fault.

Apparent multiple injector faults are usually worn camshafts.

This could be a stupid question but could that cause bad fuel economy

Dunno, if they are in spec I wouldn't expect so. The torsion value might be a better place to start.

What were your numbers?

Torsion - 3.9 kw

Cylinder 1 - 0.49 mg/str

Cylinder 2   0.09 mg/str

Cylinder 3 - 0.00 mg/str

Cylinder 4   0.42 mg/str

That was the first readings so a adjusted the cam timing this is the result

Torsion  - 1.0 kw

Cylinder 1  - 0.45 mg/str

Cylinder 2    0.24 mg/str

Cylinder 3 -  0.12 mg/str

Cylinder 4    0.35 mg/str
