Supply voltage for parking-aid

Featured Replies

I just got the following fault on my parking sensors all of a sudden when reversing out this morning...

01549 - Supply Voltage for Parking-Aid Sensor

              007 - Short to Ground

Spent some time in the afternoon to diagnose this and I am not yet 100% sure of what the problem is especially because it is not accompanied by the "faulty sensor" error code I am familiar with.

History:

Front left sensor and connector replaced in January. Pretty straight forward, faulty sensor code pointed the faulty one, removed and replaced.

However... it was cold and I didn't have much patience to do it so it might not have been my best soldering result... This is what made me start my diagnosis from there.

Facts:

- I reworked the soldering of the connector today and used proper shrink tubes instead of insulating tape and it looks clean and neat.

- I swapped around the front left with the front right sensor. The error persists.

- I checked the fuse and replaced even if it was ok.

- I removed the front left sensor, cleared the errors and in return I only got the faulty sensor warning (no more supply voltage fault).

- I moved the front right sensor to the front left and the faulty sensor warning moved to the right (as expected and still no supply voltage fault).

- I plug sensor that came from the left side into the right side, cleared the errors and the faulty sensor error didn't come back, however the supply voltage error got back.

- Using a voltmeter I checked the voltage on 3 of the 4 plugs in the front (one was less accessible) and the readings were identical on all. (so I'm thinking it can't be a wiring issue)

Conclusion so far:

- This sensor that I replaced 9 months ago is apparently causing this fault but it's kind of strange to see this after 9 months only... Also, are they that complicated inside...? Based on my diagnosis, do I risk being mislead?
