What smoke value has your car passed MOT with since 20 May 2018

Subsequent to the discussion here https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/453604-fabia-mk1-19-diesel-should-i-take-the-plunge/?page=2 on smoke emissions from diesels, thought I would start a new thread as suggested by Wino, so here go's:-

Fabia 1.4TDI Greenline with 92K miles - Forced regen of the DPF night before test which reduced loading from 17.8% to 3.4% - Tested 18/08/19 - Mean of FAS tests 0.38 m-1.

Just for Sep's info, yes it had 2-EHN in which may or may not have assisted - faster burn, cleaner burn?

What's the 'plate value' for smoke on that car Keith?

Cheers for starting the thread.

done the mot on august, 2 miles  short drive to the garage, the result is  0.0//1

don't know the tester did properly on my fabia 1.6 tdi 10 plate  57k miles.

as at the later date, i took the verso (diesel) to mot, a different tester,  he did put foot on the gas a few times (fabia just idled a few minutes there), and the result is 0.46//1

My old 56 plate Mk1 1.4 TDI 70, just MOT'd with a pass of 0.3 vs an allowable of 0.7 at 177888 miles.

Call me Mr Thickie but... Looking at my MOT, from 26/11/2018, the smoke inspection test  just says PASSED, then TEST TYPE, fast pass- PASSED.

The values you seem to be quoting- are they the gas blast measurements? I have limits MIN, (Blank), limits MAX 1.50, 3.00 and 0.10 for fast pass, turbo charged and zero drift, respectively, and then actual value, each of which were 0.00, listed as pass.

The software used was DSS MOT_UK V2.0

Unfortunately, this means Jack to me- I just know it passed the smoke test!

Sprogs Fabia 1.9tdi (80k miles, BSW motor) failed MOT with readings of 1.0 - 1.2 (plate has 0.9 limit) immediately after a 100 mile drive up the motorway. It's not a smoker and spends a lot of its life on the A1.

Drastic action time, I put half a litre of pure acetone in a third of a tank and then 70 miles at 70 in 3rd (yes it's loud) & it passed (just) retest the next day.

Next spring I'll be taking a good look at the beasts inners to see if theres an obvious reason why the output went from 0.1 at the previous MOT to 1+ in a year.

MOT was at a council depot.
