Smart repair any good?

Featured Replies

Morning everybody,  anybody had any experience of a smart repair done by a dealer before ,I had a test drive yesterday and car was good except for a shallow thin scrape round the wheel arch edge about 6 inches long where the previous owner must have very lightly scraped against something    and a couple of paint flakes on the bumper no dents or anything,  the salesperson talked about a smart repair and blending in making it all disappear completely, call me sceptical but I thought only a body shop respray could do that and I know that’s  not on the cards. Thanks

I can only tell you my experience...2 days AFTER collect my NEW 2015 Fabia mk3 , noticed a "slight" ripple n/s corner just above the windscreen on the roof curve,..possibly damaged by a swinging chain hook on the transporter ? On arranging a courtesy car the repair was undertaken...NOT by the dealers bodyshop , but a "smart repair" on collection the headlining was marked & creased.... a replacement was ordered & duly fitted [2wks] .... The original {ripple} repair although less noticeable, under certain light conditions a "ripple" was still there & the dealer "suggested" I was being unreasonable,..so much so that particular smart repairer was duly "replaced" by someone else , enough said !  To sum up was NOT at all impressed by the treatment from the dealer & on getting a good deal from another branch of the dealership on a Rapid SEL .. put the Fabia in for P/X , sorry to see it go it was in my favoured Race Blue & crammed with factory fitted options ! If you are unable to put your trust in a main dealer...who do you trust ?... for a NEW car.

?

Where was this beaut working at with the Smart Answer to the cheap fix. ???  Avoid him or her and maybe their Used cars.

There are many 'Smart' repairers.  So who, where matters.  not the name 'Smart repair'.

Dealership 'Kerbside Auto's'  Man with a Van, are hit or miss,  someone hit something they get it repaired so a buyer does not see a repair.

Not done to Factory Standard often.

You take a car into a Skoda Main Dealership with corrosion and they are quick enough to say, Not repaired to factory spec'.   Odd that one.

Exactly offski lets just say it’s a very large Scottish dealership who’s founders initial, was A and whose surname rhymes with shark

Profits have dropped a few million, but turn over is still in the billions.

More used car sales up and less getting spent on Pre sales prep probably.

Profits down because of the drop in the Pound and profit on new imported car sales.   Lets not shed a tear, j

ust avoid buying used cars from them or Parks....

Sir Arnold is no longer in this world but the same ethics are still there with the Stealerships & some other Dealership Groups.

The question is did sir Arnold get to the pearly gates or Was it a fast track to the fiery basement for crimes towards poor unsuspecting car owners

He did lots for Charity.   Hence Knighthood.

Obviously Madge and the Family get their cars from the Company they have investments in. So that will be VW Group.

I see the Arnold Clark CEO gets a nice salary.  3.5 million and a company car or 3 must be nice.
