VCDS on new Octavia

Featured Replies

I think VCDS is a worthwhile investment for the life of my car, but I have a few simple question that I hope have simple answers.

First, I am told that my Octavia "kombi" (or wagon, thats estate for you guys right :D) 1.5 tsi manual has not yet been produced.  That mean I will probably have a MY2019.

-Are there any limitation or concerns with VCDS with the upcoming (facelift) models, particularly mine of course?

I have read a few things that give doubt to compatibility for new models.

I just like tech info and the more I have the happier I am.  I also want the ability to do diagnostics for myself or to be informed when I go to the mechanic.  And of course some modifications to play around with will also be nice (also more the merrier).  Also simple maintenance stuff I always prefer to do myself, eg brakes, etc.

-Would you say the investment will meet my expectations?

-Should I perhaps wait for an update?

VCDS is regularly updated FOC.

Steer clear of the older HEX+CAN interfaces as these do not work fully on later cars, the HEX-V2 or HEX-NET will be ideal

I am aware of the update path, just didn't think about it when writing my simple/stupid question :D

But... If its not fully compatible and I am still waiting for my car perhaps waiting is acceptable.  although I do have currently an Octavia to use a a 'test vehicle' :D
