It looks like my Mk1 Yeti is has either broken wires to the door controllers or a broken door controller itself as I h=am having issues locking off-side doors, have no exterior mirror adjustment and no auto-dimming, and the lights on the driver's door window control panel don't work.

 

I live in the Highlands of Scotland and our local garage can trace and fix wiring, but can't code modules. The nearest dealer or specialist is three hours drive away...

 

My question is can VCDS be used to fully code a new door control module if that is what is needed?

 

If so, does anyone have links to full instructions on what to door (for driver's door as well as rear door as it could be either or both that has gone).

If you have a scan of your car that will have the coding from your controllers

 

The main thing is to get the correct door controller, if it needs to be replaced.

I just stumbled across your post. I am not entirely sure what you mean by door controller but I am assuming you are referring to the window switches etc. I thought I would give you my observations from a similar problem.

 

I have a Superb 2 on a 58 plate and I started getting intermittent sound on the speakers on the drivers door. I was able to pinpoint it to a cable issue because the sound would return when the door was shut. After doing a bit of routing around in the door hinge I found the cabling was badly split across a number of cables. When I actually changed the cabling on the door itself the cables were damage along the length of the wiring and not just in places where there is movement. It was like the sheathing had just shrunk with age. I had a similar problem with split door on the tailgate that also has known cable issues.

 

First thing to do would be to check the wiring in the hinge are area for any damage. You should also get the door card off and check the wiring along the length of it. If memory serves me right there was very little from the door controller that connects to other parts of the doors systems.

 

I ordered a replacement loom from Skoda and swapped it out myself. Its not a difficult job and even with my limited skills I was able to do it in an afternoon. There are videos and self help pieces on the net on how to change looms and in particular door looms.
