Sight unseen, smell unsmelt, it's also possibly a leaky heater matrix.

If you need to seal your windscreen I used this some years ago and it did the trick http://www.captaintolley.com/product-info/  when I purchased it it was called Captain tollys creaping crack cure have had no leaks like I say it was a very long time ago.

Thank you mikefelicia for your input.I am needing to take out the screen to see what is going on behind it which might be causing the problem. Any info from folk who have done this, perhaps with photos, alternative possbl reasons happily considered; have had the window rubber  sealed but to no effect,if there is a metal seam or if there is a seal behind the heater box which would allow water over the fuse box?once the windscreen is removed what will need mending and how,if the passenger wing was removed would it help to view the problem? As the motor is in quite good shape body  wise as it was sealed from new and fun to drive also useful I would like to preserve it if reasonable to do so.m

@michael68 - I saw your post on my profile. Odds on no-one else will see it there though! OK?

Anyway, replacing a heater matrix is too complex a job to describe on a forum. It's better to do some additional diagnostics first:-

  1. Does the wet patch smell sweet (not necessarily nice sweet)?
  2. Is it worse when you use the heater than when you have it set to full cold?
  3. Does the engine lose coolant and/or overheat?

Have a look at these topics:
