Adapt Favorit alternator to Estelle

Featured Replies

Can it be done? Mount seems a little different and regulator is on the rear but same output and basic design. If you have done it, what was involved?

Thanks!

Which Favorit alternator? There are several options. I run a Felicia alternator in order to up the ampage and delete the external regulator. It was fairly straight forward other than the mount which needed spacers and support.

Cheers Peter. It was eBay item 123369887585 and you can see the rear connectors. I will need to swap the pulley over.

Pulley swaps easily enough - there’s not much advantage in doing it though - unless your Estelle alternstornisnt working.

Thats right. The old one has failed bearings. But in fact the new one must be a Felicia one as its 70 Amp. So I will be doing the same as you. Did you just not connect the regulator wire? The Felicia one has a regulator on the back. If you can remember what you did it would be a real help. I did the pulley swap but it was close as only one thread engages as the Estelle pulley is a bit deeper. May have to get it machined.

I can’t recall exactly but it wasn’t difficult - you only need the one wire in place of the regulator so it sounds right

Thanks again Peter. I'll just tie the regulator wire out of the way and see how it goes. Workshop where I work can machine down the pulley a tad so more than one thread holding it on.

Just to add all fitted and works fine. I just had to machine the original pulley down as the Felicia uses a shorter spindle.

Engine is now quieter than before and starts better too.
