octavia mk1 1.9 tdi 90cv brakes compatibility

Featured Replies

hello to everyone

i have an octavia mk1 1.9 tdi 90 cv with drum brakes at the back,i would like to change the front disks and calipers with something with an higher braking power,do you know if i can swap the brake systems of a leon cupra or mk4 golf gti or passat of the same year without the need to do too many modifications?

thank you in advance

Leon or Golf of similar age maybe, Passat less likely. Bear in mind you might need larger wheels too.

Do you have a problem with the brakes at the moment? You may just need new discs/pads (good quality pads especially important) and new fluid.

i was asking that because if they were compatible i would substitute directly my disks with betters one of a gti and buy used calipers, but i think i will start changing the pads and see if it improves, thanks for the reply

It all depends on what front callipers you have really. I know with my 110 ASV when I fitted vRS front pads and discs I had to change the front hubs as the callipers bolt to carriers and my original callipers bolted straight to the hub. You can use other parts from the Mk4 Golf platform, but not the Passat as that’s a different setup.
