Wind noise/buzz at highway speed

Featured Replies

Hi fellow Octavies

I have an annoying noise issue when driven at highway speeds 120-130 km/h. It is a wind buzzing noise from the passenger door/window which only occurs at highway speeds. I have looked for gaps or loss parts, but I found nothing. I found a minor gap in the side mirror which I sealed, but it had no effect. I've also tried given the seals silicone and installed wind deflectors, but still no effect.

Have anyone in here had similar issues?

Nb. If I open the window then the noise stops, or if I press on the window it either stops or the pitch is altered.

Here is a link to a video where I've filmed the noise.

Thanks.

It happens to quite a few cars and IIRC the way to solve it is to fit new door seals.

Possibly the window seal isn't as well fitting as it was.

Try a strip of electrical tape on the outside over the glass and seal, one side at a time to isolate the problem area.

Be careful not to tape over the paintwork.

Tends to happen as well if the car has had wind deflectors installed and have since been removed...
