random high pitch beeping noise from dashboard: solution and explanation

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

If you bought a skoda octavia (2018 in my case), or any skoda with a similar engine (1.4 TSI, GTEC in my case), you might heard some random beeps at a quite high frequency "bip bip bip bip bip", or a continuous high pitch noise at the same frequency.. they sometimes fade away and it's difficult to reproduce the issue.

Here' the solution and an explanation:

Just change the hose with a totally smooth and non-rippled one

Here's an example of the noise. You really need to pay attention to hear it, it's a beep beep beep beep, quite fast.

Part numbers for the new item???....

Good question..

I asked a skoda mechanic and he told me that this part was never revisioned on my car (so there are no other options..) he also told me that my car was quite unique in switzerland..

I'm pretty sure that other models with TSI engines had this hose alread revisioned (now being smooth).. I'll have to bring the part (the hose) and ask directly I guess.

I saw on a thread that it can be replaced by a smooth one.. or maybe was it something "unofficial".. or a simple piece of standard hose (which could easily do the trick actually)

That has been a thing snce the current 1.4tsi mk3 was introduced.

Pretty sure that Skoda have a technical advice to replace with smooth bore tube if anyone complains. I only notice it occasionally on mine at very low revs and not loud anyway.

Just surprises me they were still fitting a hose in 2018 that was known to be an issue in 2013.??

Had a word with the parts dept at my local & no TSB etc for it & for my engine (CHPA) the hose is the same part number is has always been for that car..(2013-2016 was checked)…

04E 133 518 E

So is this correct?...as its a £36 part & no returns as special order...& as according to ETKA the part has never changed etc...

Don't panic...found it & yes its correct..& there are other people who have done this on 1.2 & 1.4 & been told No TSB etc...& the hose exchange only occurs if you have been complaining like mad to HQ....

The "clip which was mentioned in the fabia section...have anyone else fitted the clip??….just wondering what the connection is like on the grey solenoid valve body..is it just push fit as the new part looks like a plain rubber end at this section...

  • 2 weeks later...

I have this sound also. Always thought that this was right front brake rubbing. What a little damn fu**er.

I can confirm that the VAG remade the part (No. 04E 133 518 E) & did NOT change/revise the part number, or issue recall/TPI/TSB ...

So basically problem?..what problem???

The hose is a smooth bore rubber hose & is a straight fit..& yes you ned a small clip to fit on the solenoid end...Part No.N906 867 01

There is a hose which ends in "G" this is if the connector at the other end is a 90deg..basically where it connects to the pipe coming out of the trunking behind the coolant expansion tank....the "E" hose the connector is straight/inline.

Also when fitting, note the red marks on the hose of clip fitting placements..& for the alignment of the hose on the solenoid. The red centre line should align with the vertical rib on side of EVAP solenoid body...& clip fits in between the other red lines..& fit the clip so that it fits in the plastic bracket...so clip "wings" sit between the bracket wings..
