110 remap and general enquiry

Hi all..

It's been a fair old while since I've been on the forum having sold my fabia vrs (forced to get a bigger car.. altea.. damn kids!) And I've missed it ever since! Anyway I'm now on the lookout for a new car and want to get back in a Skoda. I've seen a good deal on a Yeti 2.0 tdi SE but it's only 110bhp which seems a bit underpowered for me. I've read it's the same engine as the 140 and the 140 map can be put on the car with no issues. I've seen that Celtic tuning offer this.. anyone know anywhere else or had this done? I'm in the north west. Anything I should be looking out for when viewing the car.. it's a 15 plate 55k miles.

Thanks..

I have done over 100k in first a 110, and then a greenline 105.

I was perfectly happy with this but have to admit my current 150 is much better. Dont forget though that the 110 is probably a 2x4, and will not be much slowerthan a 140 4x4 with all the extra drag, and the fuel consumption is at least 10mpg better.

However if you have a lower powered version of the 140 that suggests this is a euro 5 car and comes with all the risks of the emission "fix".

Just do a search on here for what people think of the fix and sone of the issues attributed to it.

It is possible to get the car remapped back to original by a specialist, and you could get a good performance increase at the same time. I have read 140 is easy and some have said they got a lot more.

You will have to declare to the insurance and pay a higher premium obviously.

If your car has the adblu tank then it is Euro 6 and fine.

I have towed a caravan and driven 5 people about with my Yeti 2.0 diesel,

(not at the same time )

I don't know any better and the Yeti thinks it is a sports car

but it suits me and performance is that cliched "brisk".

Marc,

I have owned my 110bhp 2.0L Yeti for four years know. I have a couple of times thought about a remap to 140bhp, but never got around to it, as it does a decent job. I can get 60mpg plus on a run if I keep the speed down, or low to mid 50's if pushing it at the legal limit.

The only time I would really benefit from more oomph, torque, is occasionally when towing. Having said that it will pull my 1200kg Eriba caravan happily at 60mph fully laden, only slowing down on very long steep inclines as found when driving through France.

I don't think you will need the 140bhp, but you would like it.

110 bhp isn't powerful but being a 2.0 litre diesel it has plenty of torque and certainly isn't underpowered.

It can be a bit slow pulling away due to the low first gear and the fact I don't like revving diesels too much but once underway can easily hold its own and embarrass a few other cars.

I love the way it drives.
