Bad idle

Featured Replies

I have a 55 plate 2.0fsi sport.

It idles really lumpy and the dealer stated an IMRC error and replaced...errr something.

Now a throttle body error appears, anyone have any clues??

It could be that the throttle body is dirty and needs to be cleaned. This needs to be done from time to time. Also, you may want to align the throttle body also.

I'm sure the techies will be along shortly to point the finger at something else...

I figured it's possibly a leak somewhere, the problems has been there since I picked the car up with only 10 miles on the clock. Also, I seem to regularily get an excessive amount of exhaust fumes both at idle and at low revs, without any increase in throttle. Also, sometimes on starting when warm, the revs raise to around 1500 for a second then drop back to idle, I know there is some kind of auto damper that holds the revs for a moment but I also get a distinct engine judder if I blip the throttle whilst crawling in traffic.

The sports suspension is ok, though I will be fitting lowering springs to try and level the car, It's about 2-3 cm's higher at the back than the front and the factory springs don't seem to cope with 4 people and luggage in the car. Not sure what lb springs are available- does anyone know what lb the springs are on the sport model?

Got the car back from the dealer, they fobbed me off with a fuel pressure and airflow meter problem which they had apparently rectified. Got in the car, exactly the same lumpy idle, and still feels down on power. Went back, their comment " we're not spending anymore time on it, we don't get paid for warranty work, you'll have to deal direct with Skoda technical"

My understanding of the sale of goods act is that the dealer is responsible and that THEY have to then claim for any expenses incurred with fixing the problems.

All in all I can confirm that Barkers of Grimsby are far from being the pinnacle of customer service experts!
