I have just bought a second hand Octavia Estate, 2010.

I have been unable to pair my iPhone 6 with the Bluetooth module.

I have the Bolero Head unit and the Bluetooth module 5N0035730B (5N0 035 730 B)

 

I can see that there is already a phone paired, a Samsung Galaxy.

If I try to pair the phone, it sees the phone, but then comes back with phone not compatible.

I also cannot use the BT Audio.

 

I have read through many of the topics posted on this subject, and I now believe that I have the answer, but would like to confirm before spending money.

My Understanding and some facts. (correct or incorrect)

To use BT Audio, I first need to pair the Phone, in the Phone settings as described above.

I have the Bluetooth module 5N0035730B which I believe is the cause of the problem, as this is not compatible with my iPhone 6.

If I upgrade the Bluetooth module to the D version, (5N0035730D), this should cure my problem and allow me to use the phone and BT Audio. I use Spotify to stream music.

I understand that the Bluetooth module upgrade is simply plug and play.

 

If anyone has any experience of the same, and can give any insight to this, I will appreciate it.

I may have some incorrect assumptions in my thinking.

Correct, a 5N0 035 730 B  module only supports rSAP which is why your iPhone is sad.

 

5N0 035 730 D looks a good option, you also have 3C8 035 730 B/C/D/E which are slightly newer.

 

The BT module *might* be plug and play, it'll depend how the new module is coded. For best results, I'd suggest finding a local member with VCDS to do an autoscan prior to fitting the new module and to make sure the new one is correctly coded.

 

 

Finally, if you only get audio on one channel, you might need to add an extra wire from the BT module to headunit.

If you'll excuse me hijacking this thread but I'm also curious about having bt-connectivity in my car.

 

I have an (v)RS FL 2010 (made in 2009-07) without MFSW and I don't have the bt-module (bt option is greyed out).

 

What module is most likely compatible with my car? langers2k, you wrote about 3c8 /E for example. Is there any newer revision that I can purchase? Or is the E rev. good enough?

Also, is there a cable kit (inc. mic) I can purchase that goes along with the module?

Hey @Moodilic, do you have a maxidot fitted?

 

Premium BT modules need a maxidot cluster to work properly. The 3C8 035 730 E was the last premium BT module released so it's the latest/most fully featured module available.

 

If you haven't got a maxidot cluster, you probably want something like 7P6 035 730 L. I'm sure some BT modules have compatibility issues with some Bolero headunits but I can never remember the details.

 

As for looms, they are readily available on eBay and various online stores. They just need connecting between the headunit and the car, it'll have connections for the BT module and mic included. Couple of examples:

Depending on your maxidot software version, some icons may appear as empty squares but it's purely cosmetic.

In which category can I find the version number? Maybe I can update it? I use OBD11.

A VCDS autoscan will show the version number.

 

My understanding is that:

- SW: 04xx can be updated to SW: 06xx

- SW: 03xx might be updated to  SW: 06xx by changing some components

- SW: 01xx cannot by updated

 

I'm not 100% it applies to all clusters.

Okay. So last question. Would 3C8 /E rev. work?

Does anyone have experience of these units?

They look like everything I need.

Will this work with my 2010 Octavia?

Or is it just cheap rubbish.
