1.8t RS pull timing

Featured Replies

Hi, has anyone had any issues like this before. Took my car to be mapped by APR and it was down on power due to it pulling timing. It seems to be the ECU is retarding the timing rather than there actually being a timing issue.

Ive been directed toward the knock sensor so got one on order for Monday, but has anyone got any other ideas as to what may cause this before I start the trial and error process.

Here is a printout of the cylinder ignition readings. Cylinder 1 is perfect but 2,3&4 have the issues.

That'a alot of timing pull. 1 degre should be about 3hp with these engines. Do you have any other data. Temperature, boost?

I don’t have any other information other than what power it is producing. The guy said there is no boost leaks but it’s about 15-20bhp down. It’s running about 185bhp-190bhp now when it should be closer to 210 after stage 1.

Ive got the knock sensor today so gonna see how that goes after fitting it on Wednesday.

Any other ideas with limited data?

Hi, I know it has been a long time since you posted this but did you work out what the problem is? I have an identical problem. Thanks Ben
