Keyless entry vulnerability

Featured Replies

All electronic systems are vulnerable,in fact the scallies have been  quing up at IKEA  Bristol over the last couple of years (at least 60 reported cases) of getting into/stealing tradesman vehicles just for the tools let alone private cars.

Our tradies tend to have a large 4 legged companion guarding the tools.

Only if it's in a tucker box.

BMW has recently come up with a brainwave for the Comfort Access problem. After a short while of being motionless  (I think it might be 15 minutes) the key fob deactivates until it senses movement again. it means the people using piggy bag scanners to open and start cars can't see the RF of the key fob. Simple fix that they DIDN'T TELL ANYONE THAT THEY HAD IMPLEMENTED! pillocks.

Tesla are actually much better at dealing with this sort of stuff than most manufacturers.

They've already provided a few work arounds for this already -

Driver can enable a PIN to start the car (free)

Driver can purchase a new key with upgraded encryption (£$)

Newer cars are not affected.
