Trip meter not saving / fuel problems Fabia 1.2 HTP petrol

Featured Replies

Hi all, I have a problem with my Skoda Fabia 1.2 HTP petrol. When I turn off the engine, the trip meter is not saving (and the car has other problems I think because of this). I know about switching the setting to '2' in the computer, but this is not storing neither. All fuses seem to be OK. I have changed the battery for a brand new one. I think the car might be going into 'learning mode' every time the engine is switched off and back on again as it is using a massive amount of fuel.

Some other things it won't do that might / might not be related: The boot release mechanism wont fire and the fuse is OK in it. I think the fuse might be bigger than what was supposed to be in it (it has a 15 amp fuse in it and I think it needs a 10 amp) before I bought the car, and this may have fried the motor that powers this.

Has any body got anything for me to try / any idea what the problem might be? It would be highly appreciated.

Kind regards, Paul

I have just noticed also, the clock is not storing neither (this resets with the engine off). Thank you again

Double-check (or just swap with another 5 Amp one nearby) fuse 1 in the cabin fusebox and see if that changes anything. That fuses a permanent supply to the cluster, so if not allowing current to flow it might cause the loss of memory you're seeing.

What year is the car and how long have you owned it?

I think the other issues you're seeing aren't related to this cluster problem.

Thanks for the help. I will try changing it out in a little while and let you know the results. The car is an 05 plate 1.2 HTP petrol. We’ve had the car for nearly 2 years, and this started after it went in the garage to have some work done for the mot. They only changed break pads and I think they might have tried to replace the fuse for the boot, but told me that it was ok and they couldn’t fix it. Thanks again

It worked!!! The clocks don’t reset now; something I’ve been trying to solve for weeks!!! The fuse looks ok so must have had a crack in it or something, but I’ve swapped it out and now it’s working. Just to solve the fuel issue now, but I’ll raise another thread for that. Thanks again for your help, it’s really appreciated
