clutch life

Featured Replies

hi all , ive had a skoda Octavia blackline  since new , great car cannot really fault it. my question is it done 122,000 miles which I have driven ,still on original clutch ,how many miles have others got from these parts,

car has never been remapped , its a bit of a dilemma as to do I change it now or repair it when it goes wrong ,drives as new doesn't burn any oil, serviced every 10k best car ive ever had , and most reliable ,what are your views

Just leave it until it starts slipping as you probably find that the dmf usually goes first before the clutch as mine was still good at 170k but the dmf was rattling so the clutch was done at the same time as the dmf.

Clutch life will vary from driver to driver car to car so  too many variables too extrapolate from one to another. As above if its working perfectly leave it until it is giving issues.

Clutches last almost forever if you're ''kind'' to them. I had a 1.9 Pug 306 years ago that managed over 320,000 on the original clutch and gave the impression that it would do another 320,000. Motorway miles don't wear it at all, town driving more so.

Don't know if you can compare a manual transmission with a DSG gearbox.

I'm currently at 141k miles and mines working! Don't know how these DSG gearboxes should be when new, but I think it's ok!
