Other than looking flash, whats the point of a volt gauge in a modern car?

Useful in an ICE install for keeping tabs on the electrics under load.

Aside from that? No idea. Perhaps just to keep check on the battery health? In a modern car I'd say thats pretty unessential

It's cheaper than installing a more useful oil temp gauge?

(I assume your're refering to the voltmeter in the 350Z?)

The 350 has both volt gauge and oil pressure gauge - the latter I find strangely interesting.
