Dension ice link plus humming noise?!!?

Featured Replies

Hi guys and girls,

Just put in the dension ice link plus into the back of the fabia vrs stereo. First impressions are great, is a really neat little gadget. I love having all my tunes with me. However.... when i crank up the volume i notice humming that goes up and down with the engine revs (when i am changing the track on the ipod its very apparant). This does not happen in cd mode or radio mode, just with the dension. I have a sub installed, however i dont think this is causing the problem, i took out its fuse and still the humming is there. I have tried grounding the dension to both the stereo cage and also another earth point on the car but to no success. I have thought about putting a supressor on the live wire from the headunit iso to the dension ince link. But can anyone else recommend any ideas or solutions? Does anyone elses ice link do this? Is it faulty?

Kind regards

Rich

sounds like you are getting feedback from the alternator you will need to but a suppressor on if this is the case.. we have the same problems on aftwermarket phonekits in jags

i've got the same problem, how and where do you fit a suppressor, and where do you get one from??

Thanks

Hi paul,

I have found one on the maplins website and my dad is popping into halfords to see if they have any. Basically it looks quite easy to fit, using www.fabia-vrs.com there is a link to explain the wiring setup for the iso connector. From here we need to take the live feed which goes to the dension ice link adapter (i presume). Basically you cut the live wire and wire in the suppressor.

The one on mapling had a blue input, red output and an connection to earth. So basically you connect the end from the headunit into blue, red onto the end that goes into the dension and black to ground.

Ill hopefully get mine done this weekend and let you know the outcome, else you can try it yourself and let me know how it goes.

Regards

Rich

Guys,

Please see attached picture. Ill explain what i did. The supressor cost about 5 quid from halfords and completely removed all traces of humming. My indicators and revving of the car made all sorts of humming noises etc.

The red wire coming from the connector from the cd changer socket, cut. The wire from the connector should go to the orange wire on the supressor (positive ignition controlled supply. The end that goes into the dension ice link bus connect to the red wire (connect to audio unit + supply). The black wire coming from the bus link that isnt connected to anything, connect with the two black wires from the supressor (connect to ground & connect to audio unit negative supply). Join these three wires together and connect to any earth point in the car. I connected them to a metal point on the side of the glove box. There you go, all done.

Cheers Rico

Nice one rico! Will go to halfrauds tomorrow and see if i can pick one up...
