Moving Cruise Control

Featured Replies

I have a 110BHP Octavia MkI diesel with Cruise control.  Unfortunately I have suffered a catastrophic engine failure.

I have purchased another car, same spec, but no cruise control, so wished to move it over.

FIRSTly, is this a good idea and possible?

I have been using these instructions http://vwgolfr32.co.uk/ccs.pdf to remove the parts from old car.

Column Stalk is now removed ok and then for the looms.

The loom from the stalk to the electrical box in reservoir by wiper motor.

I have released the socket from the socket frame. I am now unable to withdraw the loom (which just seems to be 4 yellow wires) because there is a red wire with black stripe and a seperate white wire which go from the same socket into the depth of a major loom.

So, am I doing the right thing?

and what next?

By the way.... both cars have ASV engines.

in case that matters?

The cruise loom will be part of the factory wiring harness, it’s not a separate part so will need stripping out.

Then the ecu will need coding to activate cruise.
