DAS6 Pro vs Pro Plus as first polisher

Featured Replies

Looking for some input to help me decide which of these polishers to get. If my research is correct the plus is a smoother machine with a bigger orbit, which makes it easier to correct larger areas faster.

However it won't take smaller backing plates so can't do smaller parts of the car.

1. If anyone can please confirm my understanding that would be great

2.For any plus owners. What parts of a car would I be unable to correct using the 5.5 plate

All advice appreciated

It does appear the pro plus doesn’t have the ability to attach a 3” backing plate, from what I’ve read.

I went with the standard pro so to avoid either having to hand polish tight areas or buying a mini-da just for that job.

Why not take your 5.5” Pad in your hand and walk around the car and place it flush on the panels and gauge it that way? Consider panel edges, badges and what the pad will be making contact with when you’re trying to correct a section of that panel (lower front wings, for example)

For me, if the full face of the pad is not flush on the panel it’s too big and would consider the 3.5” pad. I’m sure professionals may have a different opinion, but I’m not a professional and  I’m never in a rush and this works for me, but each to their own.
