How to find out my MPG / fuel consumption worries

Featured Replies

I recently bought a Citigo Green Tech, I am delighted with it apart from not being able to find my mpg without an app. I tried downloading it onto my Android tablet, it isn't compatible, seems I need an iphone or android phone, I have a Windows phone that doesn't have apps developed for it. It now seems that I am going to have to revert to pen and paper, which is a 30 year backward step. I have tweeted Skoda re this but it doesn't help me.

Recording your actual fills and mileage is still the most accurate way. Use an online fuel recording facility like Fuelly or similar. You should be able to do that with your tablet or windows phone.

Just returned from Brighton. Filled the tank this morning. 381 miles since last fill. The Garmin said 65mpg, actual was 58mpg. Trip miles 1106.

I have downloaded a basic mpg app, I tried Fuelly too much info needed. The basic one asks for pride per litre and miles done. Although I set my trip to zero after refill, I can't be sure whether I put fuel in at the same point on the gauge. I used to check my Fabia when doing certain speeds or in certain gears, it was amazing the difference. I used to get 60mpg but that was a diesel, I would like to run the same tests with the Citigo.

Our 2nd car is a high mileage 15yo 1.3L Toyota Echo with basic facilities (not even a clock) and I do miss the instantaneous consumption readouts to confirm what does work best.

It still averages 49mpg with 95% local urban driving but I think there would be another 5+mpg available if I had the instant consumption display.

I hate the old regime high 2k rpm idle cold start, I can feel the fuel gushing through. I don't even have to touch the throttle for the first kilometre of our 40kph speed restrictions.
