05 Elegance middle vent not working on hot air

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a 2005 Octavia Elegance and I've noticed the middle vents are closed off when hot air is coming in, they work perfectly when cool air is coming in though- this also applies to the rear passenger vents too. I only get hot air through the side vents and the windscreen.

Is there any way to change this?

When set in auto (assuming you have climatronic) there are options that the system can choose blowing to the windscreen and on body simultaneously and in that mode the centre flaps get deactivated letting air go out from sided and/or windscreen helping preventing from windows get into humidity..

May be thinking also if having wipers on a such automatic mode could be selected though not very sure.

Have you tried manually to select air from centre vents in any case it works?

If another member can post an opinion would help more...

Somethings to be aware of, if the heating is set to Footwell or Down, no air comes out of the central vents, only the side or footwell vents.

With dual zone climatronic, the temperature set by the front seat passenger dictates the temperature coming out of the left hand central vent and the rear passenger central tunnel vents.

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply.

I do have the Climatronic system

I must admit I haven't tried manually selecting for air to come through the vents, I will try in the morning.

Always works when cool air is coming in, just not hot air, it only comes through the sides and windscreen, which now makes sense to try and stop the windows steaming up.

I'm assuming the car would warm up faster with all vents open, rather than just the sides and I usually keep AC on so shouldn't have a problem with condensation etc ...

Interesting to know, thank you.

I had assumed that it was by design and not a fault.

When I want warming up is usually my feet that are cold, I may want hot air to defrost the screen, in neither case would I want the hot air to blow in my face.

I have always just used them as ventilation and not as heating, on previous cars where they put out the same temperature as the floor and screen vents I pretty much always kept them closed, I quite like that with the Skoda I can have a warm screen, warm cabin but a cool breeze in my face if i am feeling tired or need refreshing.

I am fairly sure that the Climatronic on my MK1 Octavia was the same.
