Hi everyone, hope you can help.

i have a 2002 Fabia Tdi and the power for cig lighter, radio, etc stays on with the ignition off and key removed.

Is this a wiring issue or is this normal?

sorry if this has been asked before but, I have tried searching and couldn’t find anything.

Thanks in advance.

@tussey - The lighter is usually permanent live anyway, and the ICE usually needs a supply for the "security" code reset. On mine the "radio off" functionality appears to enabled using the ignition transponder, so maybe try starting yours with a non-transponder key (if available) to test that functionality.

Can you give a more detailed list of what stays on. I presume ignition off stops the engine at least.

Usually with ignition off: Wipers?(No). Heater blower?(No) Lights? (Headlights no, sides yes, indicators no, hazards yes). Radio?(Yes till the key is removed from ignition switch) Aftermarket radio might be wired wrong so works regardless but looses tuned stations.

I would be thinking ignition switch fault or relay fault.

On the Symphony single CD player, there's a setup option to only allow it to operate with the ignition key inserted or to be controlled solely by the power button on the unit (i.e. operates independently of the ignition key).
