No speedo after front hub replacement

Featured Replies

Hello,

Im Swedish so my English spelling is not that great.

Yesterday me and my friend changed the left and right front wheel hubs because of bad wheelbearings.

Everything was going fine, we put the car back together but now the car has no speedo working, the fuel gauge is moving when i break or stear right or left.

The engine, abs,esp and handbrake light is lighting up and 3 beeps is heard when you start the car.

I have no showing of the average consumtion in the car computer but i have remaining fuel that is not shown corect.

The fault code reader is saying no contact with speed sensor right and left, and I have checked that we pluged them in. Also there is more fault codes but they are all pointing too the abs system.

Is there something I can do except of order new sensors. I have read in the forum but noone that i found have had the same isue from changing the hubs.

I have checked all fuses and cant find any that is blown, tips and tricks please?

Its a 2007 2.0 tdi 140hk with 28 000 km

Best regards

Mathias

Ok, now i have changed the 2 front wheel speed sensors and my speedo is working again but the ABS and ESP fault are still there.

Get the 00285 fault code on front right sensor but there is no text saying in what way it is not working. When doing a live data read i have 0 on all other sensors and the one on the front right is showing 250 000 something.

When driving the other 3 is going up to same numbers but the front right one is going from 13 000 - 250 000.

Is my new sensor bad or is there something else I'm missing out on?

Are the hubs genuine?

Pretty sure others have had issues with non-genuine hubs as the ABS ring is built into them.

same can be said for ABS sensors, I tried a non genuine and it failed within a year.

You either have damaged the wiring, or have a faulty sensor. I would say the hub is fine because even if the magnet had come off, you wouldn't be getting a reading with the car stationary

It's the same brand on both front hubs and the one on the left is working just fine.

If I take the sensor out from the hub and start the car and reading live data from the speed sensors, the one on the front right is still showing 250 000 and are staying like this, not changing at all. If I put the sensor in the hub the sensor shows from 13 000 - 250 000, so i think it's a faulty sensor since it seams to react on cars magnetic field in hub but is doing it wrong.

Update:

Today I tested some things to se if I could find what is making this problem.

First I tested putting the left sensor in the right cable and the right in the left cable and the scanner is still showing that right side is faulty. By that i could find that there is no problem with the sensor itself.

Then tested ohm messure the cables on the right side from sensor up to abs pump conector, no problem there either.

Volt messured to, no problem.

Cant understand this fault....

We decided to replace the right front hub again and now everything works again and the car went to the swedish MOT thuesday and there was no problem.
