Rear parking sensor malfunction

Featured Replies

Hello,

Two of my rear parking sensor is stopped working. I have checked and there is no clicking sound when I go close. My question how can I identify that the sensor or the cable is broken? As I have found the sensors has three “legs”. Is it possible to measure it with a multimeter somehow?

thanks

Br

Yes you can check the voltage.

You could also swap the sensors around see if the fault migrates to confirm if its the connection or the sensor.

How should I measure the connection? As I saw it has three legs. what is expected?

Switching is a good idea though

Thanks

It might be worth find someone with diagnostic equiptment such as VCDS. It should tell you exactly which sensor(s) are faulty.

With a multimeter, all you'll be able to check is that they have power. You won't be able to check they are working properly.

If you need a wiring diagram, try looking here: https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz/erwin/showHome.do

3 pins I would think battery +, battery -, & a trigger voltage. You could also check with the loom disconnected resistance (continuity)  along the wires. You may find when removing the sensor(s) that it falls to bits or that pins are corroded.
