2017 1.2tsi. Never noticed it had a small light on the tailgate close to the locking latch. Soon found out when I opened the tailgate a couple of days ago to find a heap of broken glass or plastic! Now just left with a small (15mm?) diameter hole in the trim.

I cannot find a reference to this lamp in the handbook.

Does anyone know the part number so I can order one? Next question is how to open the trim panel sufficient to locate the cables (2?). Cables must be sufficiently spaced as haven't had any electrical short from them touching!

Not the one in the side panel. This is actually adjacent to the bottom latch on the tailgate presumably so when the tailgate is raised the light shines down from the raised tailgate

Well I assume there was a light there. Anyone with a late model two- do you have a hole in the tailgate trim at low level. Maybe the reason I can't find details of the lamp is that there isn't one and on slamming the tailgate I crushed a bulb or something similar rolling on the boot.

There has never been a light fitted as standard to the hatch.

I miss this forum......:

I've just been out (in the rain!!) to look at mine and the only round hole in the cover is for the screw that holds the dogchew for closing the hatch.

Do you mean the hole for the emergency boot opening near the catch or where the boot handle attaches?

How ironic... my labrador chewed the closing tab on my yeti tailgate yesterday. I had removed my lintran dog box just for the day and she struck... 98p for a new one
