Front suspension squeak when cold

Featured Replies

In cold morning front suspension produces loud noise / squeak especially over bumps at low speed.

I read several threads on Skoda but also other VAG / German cars having same issue. While some cases are true problems / breakdown of suspension, most others are claiming to be 'srandard behaviour' on German cars due to some specific rubber used in bushings.

Car is just month old. I wonder anyone else have similar issues.

We had the exact same issue on our brand new 2016 Octavia Scout.

Reported it to the dealer during its first service, no faults found.

It was a lease car so went back to Skoda after two years with the issue still present.

I have exactly the same problem on my Superb Sportline Estate. Car is 7 months old and has done 4500 miles.  It has only just started making the creaking / squeaking noises in the past couple of weeks after it had been in for new rubber coated fuel lines to be fitted because of a vibration. It has gone from perfectly quiet suspension to sounding like a very old car with worn out parts. Have also had the very occasional knock on the floor pan to accompany the creak and I seem to be getting an associated vibration through the steering wheel too.  Mine also seems worse after start up, which seems a bit strange. Car is booked in with dealer next week so will see what they say.

Thank you for sharing. Please post here after inspection.

Never leave issues to first services with new cars.  especially not 9,400 - 18,000 plus first services, & when suspension, brakes, steering or any issue do not have any Service Desk staff have a Master Tech look see put off because they are so busy.  Busy with other cars that also have issues.

& Check that the Transport Blocks are removed correctly.

I was looking into springs but have not seen transport blocks north anything else strange. Reading several other Skoda/VW forums looks like most of the times it is just squeaky rubber. And most of the time dealers don't find 'anything'. So would like to hear more before I go to service. To have some more arguments to fight being sent back with no results.

Car has been back to dealer under warranty - their update is as follows:

'Carried out investigation into suspension knock. Found to be coming from fuel lines. Stripped down vehicle and carried out an adjustment. Rebuilt and road tested to find all ok'.

My first concern is that they only fitted the replacement fuel lines a few months ago, so a bit of a worry in itself.

More importantly, it has not fixed the squeaking suspension problem whatsoever. They state that they did not touch the suspension when it was in the first time so adjusting the fuel lines again is not going to solve what is clearly a suspension problem. I have played them recordings of the creaking as it is that obvious. It sounds like what you would expect from an old car with worn bushes.

The issues I have had are really spoiling my enjoyment of what is otherwise a pretty good car.

Back to the drawing board.  Will get Xmas out of the way and have a re-think about what I do next.

Would be interested to hear from anyone who has managed to resolve this same problem satisfactorily.

Ah that is exactly what I was afraid of. Most other ppl (Skoda but WV also) were returned from dealers with exactly the same remedies. Some cosmetic fixes (that you basically even cannot check yourself - have you really checked that they replaced these fuel lines?) and they claim noisy suspension is fine.

But if they really solved the knock, then try spraying some silicone onto bushes yourself. Ppl around reportedly solved squeak that way

Ocasionaly experienced same issue, slow speed creaking..anybody resolve it permanently? I know about greasing of silicone spray..asking for permanent solution since i would like to keep car for long period.
