The numbers in the top of my gear knob have worn away, will any Skoda gear knob fit?

 

i have an elegance spec fl mk2 so want a leather replacement but suspect the dealer will charge the earth 

You can just replace the insert rather than the entire thing.

I saw those but the knob is a bit worn too. The Fabia Monte Carlo I had as a courtesy car had a nice leather one that’s why I’m considering changing the whole thing

I need to replace mine and was going to order the one referenced above. BUT having seen that the top is held in by several catches running down into the main body of the knob I am a little worried that when I take off the old top, the old catches will break, fall down, and obstruct fitting of the new part.

Has anyone tried fitting a new top and can dispel my worries?

The gear gate picture on the top of mine has almost disappeared.

 

Changing the leather cover is a separate job to fitting just a new gear change top.

I removed my gate inlay to paint it, just use a thin flat implement to ease it out of the knob.

I really hate my octavias original  "tractor -style knob" I would like to change the knob to an aftermarket one.

Just wondering how will the gator stay in place....It seems to bee one piece with the original knob

 

Did Skoda change the knob design on the run out models? Reason is, my 2013 5speed gate picture is near invisible, but looks to be printed  under the clear plastic top, rather it having been worn away by use. (Its only got 138,000km on the clock...)

Almost like its meant to be illuminated? 

Anybody any ideas? I know it seems like a stupid question...

 

The printing on the top of mine slowly wore away so that it looked as you said, almost transparent with rear printing. The printing was just slightly faded at 50,000 miles but mostly gone at 65,000.

I bought a new original Skoda one from a Czech company for around a £20. Easy to exchange in just a few minutes.

 

Do a search on here and you will find we are not the only ones with this problem.

It really does look like its "underprinted" beneath the plastic.. 

It doesnt bother me to look at, and i know where the gears all are so it it was more annoying the last few days thinking its meant to have a bulb/led in there some where
