Rear Auto Wipe- Not Wanted In Winter

Featured Replies

After de- icing and de-misting this morning, when I reversed the rear wiper did its thing. Took me some time to find the correct menu in order to turn it off. I think about three menus actually , under convenience consumers iirc. Not the kind of thing one needs to search for while driving along. Will stay OFF for winter.

It’s CAR > SETUP > MIRRORS & WIPERS > Automatic Rear Wiper :)

Good reminder, I want this off too. Be a pain if the wiper blade is still slightly frozen to the screen and it activates damaging the blade!

Solution: Don't do it whilst driving along.

If you are on the motorway for example. Not the kind of thing one needs to search for while driving along. I don't do it when driving.

You reverse on the motorway?

:mmm:

When did you last reverse on a motorway?

Rear wipe never bothers me as rear window has deiced with heated rear screen before reversing.

The Angel wipe / wee squirt on the front screen after the rear wipe can be a real PITA with no heated front screen.

The rear wiper auto wipes if the front wipers are on. It's not just the reversing auto wipe that concerns me.

Last time I reversed, in the snow ,on  the M74 after being stuck overnight with 999 other vehicles.

But...  (scratching my head thinking I must have this wrong?)  if you don't want your rear wiper to wipe because it's frozen, then presumably the front wipers are frozen too?

And by the time you've reached the motorway, wouldn't the heated rear screen have defrosted the rear wiper blade? (the front blades will still be frozen tho).  I fully understand the reversing issue, but not whilst you're driving forward.

Anyway whatever the issue is - removing the rear-wiper fuse will disable it under every situation.

But what else does it disable?
