If Auto Express put a sponsors name at the top of each page (e.g. SKODA UK) we the buyers would be able to be more objective about honesty of the test results.

I am quite sure that no money changes hands that is described in the magazine's profit & loss statement as "sponsorship payments".

Whether the motoring journalists involved get, for example, a top of the range courtesy car entirely gratis for three months for their own personal use so long as they give a favourable write-up is another matter.

(The fleet manager at one of my old companies used to get exactly that - a top of the range "demonstrator" model (with fuel card) for his own personal use as long as the company purchased x fleet vehicles from the manufacturer per year......win-win for the fleet manager because officially his employer wasn't providing him with a company car so zero BIK tax for him).

So the Golf retains allegedly near 60% and the Scala retains near 51%. Having traded in a mint Rapid/Toledo I can tell you that 51% is at least highly unlikely and at worst outright lies. At 3.5

So @ 8 minutes.

So seems you have to have the Characteristic 1.5TSI EVO DSG crap happening straight from the factory.

The original question here must surely be answered no, what with VW's recently announced plan to take Skoda down market, and the nearing arrival of Golf Mk8.

My daily drive is now an Automatic with a hand / parking brake. That was OK for a few decades before and not too much of a PITA as not chopping and changing different cars just now.

I am very aware of sitting stopped with the rear brake lights on and dont really do it for stops of more than a few seconds.

As much as i originally was happy with a DQ200 DSG with a manual parking brake, did lots of miles in a few years i would not put up without 'Autohold' these days.

It really is either KISS and easier servicing for DIY which i doubt on the Scala & Kamiq or it is just going down market.
