Oil filter location?

Featured Replies

As above really, I can't for the life of me see where the oil filter is located on my 2.0 TDi Karoq, (which is probably the same as the Kodiaq). Taking the top plastic cover reveals a mass off pipes, castings & bits, nothing like any Youtube video I've seen on the subject. I can only presume you would have to take the belly pan off to gain access from below, as you would to take out the sump plug?

If it is accessed from above, I can see a lot of garages leaving the original filter in place, as I reckon a lot of owners would be none the wiser.

Any ideas?

Looking into the engine bay, it is down behind the cooling fans close to the cambelt...

Thanks silver, unless I'm missing something, I still can't see it. This is what my engine bay looks like near to the cam belt end. Not sure what that large alloy casting is to the right of the picture? Is it deeper down towards the bottom of the engine?

Get under the car and take the under tray off, there might be less stuff in the way under there.

TBH from the picture it looks like its under the alternator which is probably under the HP fuel pump that you can see on your picture so its further down the engine than it looks I bet

The aluminium inlet looks like a charge cooler to me

Yes, sorry, you have a better chance of seeing it from under the car.

You'll need to remove the engine undertray and the foam insulation pad.

The oil filter housing is underneath the oil cooler...

Ah, that's brilliant silver. I'll have a look before it goes in for its service.

Thanks again.
