Fresh to Citigo and some questions please.

Featured Replies

Hi guys, just wanted to say hello, nice to see a forum dedicated to the Citigo, I am slowly reading through all of the posts.

I owned a 2016 Seat Mii by Mango since new, loved every bit of it but made the huge mistake of trading it in a couple of months ago for a Peugeot for personal and practical reasons. Anyway I regretted my mistake and realised that I’d been the biggest fool on planet earth so decided to switch back.

After a bit of research I decided upon the Skoda Citigo for a number of reasons, and managed to purchased a used Citigo SE 60bhp on a 2013 plate, 34k on the clock in red and in immaculate condition inside and out from my local Skoda dealer. Only had it a few days but it puts a smile on my face every time I take it out for a spin and I have committed myself to never ever switching again.

Although it’s technically a drop in spec from the Seat Mii, it’s in essence the exact same car, albeit it doesn’t have leather interior, daytime running lights, alloy wheels or electric wing mirrors. But, everything else is pretty much the same, to be honest looks wise the Citigo blows the Mii out of the water in my opinion.

I intend to purchase some black alloys and to get the rear windows tinted just to give it a more sportier look, but it’s a cracking looking motor and I’m over the moon with it.

My questions are :

I have the 60bhp version compared to my Mii which was a 75bhp, my Citigo sounds a bit raspy below 2000 rpm, I didn’t notice this as much with my Mii, so was wondering whether this is something to do with it being the 60bhp, or whether it’s just due to it being a slightly older car. I know I shouldnt compare the two cars but with them being so similar it’s difficult not to. It just seems really noisy in low revs almost like a tractor but when I open it up it’s fine and purrs like a kitten and virtually silent although it does have that Porsche sounding rev that we all love.

Also the gear box seems to make a low level noise which I can only describe as a sort of hissing noise when idling. This immediately stops when I press the clutch down. Does anyone know what this could be ?...... I have a three month warranty with the vehicle so would it be worth getting it checked out or is it normal.

Other than the noisy low revs and the strange noise from the gears when idling I can’t fault the vehicle.

Thanks in advance.
