Grrr! VERY ANGRY!!!

Featured Replies

Not been on for a few days on account of trying to sort out the footprint-shaped dents in my bonnet and a replacement for my brand new tyre that's had to be written off after getting a nail through it :thumbdwn: The bonnet thing may have happened when it was parked in town on Saturday night, and the nail (right in the centreline of the tyre) might just have been bad luck, but I'm beginning to suspect otherwise!

NOT a happy bunny so far this week! :(

Tyre could have been repaired if the hole was not bigger than 6mm...especially if it was in the center of the tread.

Sorry to hear about the dents

Sadly not with the tyre - I didn't notice straightaway so the inside of the sidewalls had worn down :( The guy showed me all the shavings inside the tyre - and that was only after a few hundred yards of "the handlings gone all funny all of a sudden?!?" Still, better than a blowout...

Some tyre company good with a discount if your tyre isn't repairable.Discount is in relation to amount of tread left.

Wish I'd have found out about that before I put the order in - it was a brand spanker!

Still, will know for next time!

Only if its a defective tyre....not normally on punctured ones

Manchester is the car crime capital of the UK, apparently, but TBH it's the first time I've had any 'trouble' in nearly ten years of living here - FINGERS CROSSED! (bikes are a completely different matter...) Thanks, though!

Wondering what might happen tonight... :nervous:

;):D

Where abouts in Manchester was it parked at the time?

We parked in a couple of places in town - bays on the road, rather than car parks. Usually prefer parking on the road rather than in car parks at night on account of theoretically being safer from people trying to nick your stereo etc. Could have happened anywhere, at any time, I suppose - some friends of mine had their car torched on their drive in Holmes Chapel (super-posh area for those that don't know the NW), so I guess I got off lightly! The worst of the damage just pushed out, but a new bonnet's only

That's what the tyre man said when he saw the nail dead-centre on the tyre - very unusual for one to go in right in the middle, he thought. But then again, I noticed the flat right at the end of my 30-mile trip to work, and although I didn't stop in time to save the tyre, I'm assuming it (and the rim) would have been in a much worse state than just having some rubber shaved off the inside of the sidewall if I'd driven the whole way with it flat... :o

As for the boonet, I'm pretty certain it didn't happen either before or after it was parked in town, so I reckon it was probably just random. Or quite possibly the people sticking flyers under people's wipers just decided they'd liven up their work... :thumbdwn:

Will be keeping a closer eye out at night, but it's probably just been bad luck...

Probably just kids/students deciding it might be fun to run along a row of parked cars. Surprisingly common, and I know at least one person who has had to get a new windscreen as a result of such antics...

That's pretty much what I thought. My first reaction when I saw it was to check the roof - now that would have been a beeyatch to fix...

Bad news indeed. It can happen anywhere, I had cars vandalised 4 times in London when I lived there, but have had (I shouldn't say this...) no bother in 10 years that I've been in Manchester. Probably drunken B$^&%^S.

If I park in the city centre I use either G-MEX, or the one by the hotel on the corner of Deansgate/Blackfriars St (the high security one).

There's a good bodyshop in Stockport that's good at fixing this stuff at good prices (use it for our work vans), turn left at the Citroen dealer just off the M60, it's on the right at the end.

May look into that - it's not too far from where I live. Thanks!
