Oil temp

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Well after an oil change and all filters I get no oil temp indication in the maxidot.

It only shows lines.

I fancy that maybe the sensor's been unplugged but mechanic said that wasn't touched.

Is it an easy position to check?

Thanks

If they've selected the wrong service schedule type when resetting in the ecu it will have the effect you're seeing.

Was it working before and have you changed servicing type schedule to annual/ mileage based. Most likely the oil temp sensor has been switched off and just needs switching on again with VCDS

Yes it was working normally until yesterday before servicing.

Tech connected his own diagnostic (not VCDS) and did the service reset, but not sure what exactly he did (my sister brought the car there - I was not there)

The service is scheduled in every 10K but this is done since I had it from new, so not believe has to do with the service schedule.

I'll check anyway with my VCDS upon returning home as I'm in a long trip for the weekend..

Thanks for the inputs!

Finally managed to find few mins today for checking with VCDS and I confirm the servicing was not changed (always been 15K km and or 372 days in the service intervals/reset menu in the service reset menu from maxidot options  (..Will have to change this anyway to my preferred 10K km oil changes..)

But in the instruments controller (17) have found an option in the adaptations for the condition of the thermal oil sensor and inspection which was set to "not connected with the dash function".

So I enabled to "connected with the dash " and it resumed back to show normally oil temp.

I'll ask mechanic what he played with and changed this value.

Also I saw in the same adaptations segment, oil quality option which suggested poor or good oil quantity.

The value was stored to poor and could not revert to change to good oil quality.

module was indicating message that accepted the coding but the stored value was still to poor.
