Memory seat......problem or not? HELP!

Featured Replies

So, we've had our 2018 Superb Sportline for a few weeks now and don't know if we have an issue of I'm just doing something wrong.

The memory function is set for me (1) and my wife (2).

The driver profile is set to Driver 1 (me) and we only use one key, so my wife has to adjust her seat on the rare occasions she has driven it.

On my understanding, when this key is used, the seat should go to my position of it has been used by my wife previously?

Now the issue....

Due to my size, my comfortable seat position is set to the lowest on the rear of the seat base and higher (under my thigh/knee) on the front of the seat base.

Now, everything with the memory and driver profile works apart from the fact that when it resets to my setting the rear of the seat base never returns to the fully lowest position i have set and I always have to tilt it back down "half an inch" or so when I get in.

It went back to the dealer last week, they carried out a fault check and there was nothing stored, carried out a seat reset, but the "problem" persists.

The technician said he would email Skoda Technical to see if they thought there was an issue, but said it may just be a "Safety Feature" and that the seat and memory may not be allowed to be set in the lowest position.

I think and did say to him that this seems strange as if the seat can be moved to this position, it surely should be able to be set to this position, to which he agreed!!

So, has anyone else experienced this, is it an issue, and is there a solution, as it is mildly irratating?

Thanks in advance.

Have a look here. There are other threads of you search on "seat memory".

Yes, I have the same issue and it is a PITA.

I have my my seat set as low as it will go and as far back as it will go. When I first had the car, the seat would move forwards and upwards every time I unlocked the car, despite me storing the position I wanted, so I had to constantly reposition it. I had the dealer look at it and they said they couldn’t find anything wrong with it. Eventually, they told me that the position I was storing was “beyond the parameters of the seat” - which begs the question “why the heck does it let me move it to a position that it can’t store?”

The only solution I found was to turn off ‘personalisation’ in the settings, so that it didn’t move the seat every time I unlocked the car. As I am the only person driving it, this isn’t such a big issue. My other-half doesn’t like big cars, or automatics.

It doesn't return to the lower max position using the memory function.

If you watch it after setting it and then lock and unlock the car you will see it move off the limits.

Strange but true and I don't know why, maybe to protect something?

Thanks guys.........I think!

At least I know I'm not alone, but my god, how ridiculous that the position is there but the memory doesn't allow it to be set!?!?

We've had numerous cars with electric memory seats over the years and have never had this issue, it's not a big thing but irritating enough to spoil my enjoyment of the car longer term .
