This is a good point. I have noticed on this forum the opinion that if a car is leased you can't touch it and if it is on manufacturers finance/pcp you can. You can't under either. The car does NOT belong to you whether it is leased or on Finance until the last penny is paid. It clearly states in my PCP that the car can not be altered from standard exactly the same as the one I have leased. Another point the PCP makes is that the annual mileage is pro rata, if you go over the pro rata rate they can charge you the mileage there and then, mid term. Taken from the service mileage and date. Now I don't have personal experience of this happening but it is written into all PCP's. At the end of the day, no car is yours on HP/PCP until you fully pay for it. You can  get away with mods on finance as you can purchase it at the end, but to be honest with VAG the lease is no different, you can and automatically get offered the car for purchase at auction price + a small mark up at the end of the term. As well as you can extend usually for a lower payment up to 4 years old and buy it when its more advantages.  Which over all often works out far cheaper than buying on finance depending on the discounts offered at the start.

I don't see the difference either.

My PCH agreement specifically states I must get approval for any changes I want to make to the vehicle from standard. i.e. ask and they'll say no if you mention ecu remapping LOL

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread. Looking at getting my GTi PP remapped but don't know who to go with. Do I go custom or generic. APR, REVO, Unicorn, MRC.

Head's all over the places.

Which is probably why some people use tuning boxes.

Might be a silly question but can you get a gentle remap, like a Stage .5 to add say 25 extra BHP and a bit more torque stead of a Stage one adding say an extra 60BHP.

I thought your black spoiler did this? :mmm:

Not seeing a difference with tuning boxes, even if it is removable traces of its use will be evident if investigated irrespective of what some claim. But each to their own.

I agree with you entirely. However it’s obvious from previous posts on this site, that some people believe that a box is easily removed and that no trace will be picked up or it’s too expensive/difficult to do. The usual emphasis is that the finance company won’t know it that a dealer will honour warranty claims.

Again some seem to just convince themselves everything will be fine and ok, at the end of the day their choice. Mine is having nothing changed on it period.

For some it seems this makes me less of an owner as I have to keep my car standard LOL For a family brisk barge I think its a great car even standard.

Had it been my own car I'd be looking at remaps/upgrades for sure.. did it with my own outright purchased from new 2003 Leon Cupra just as soon as the warranty ran out back in the day. It got a Revo Stage 1 remap, fuel type map switcher box, the suspension was upgraded, air intake, forge dump valve and brakes all done and all fully explicitly declared on a proper modified car insurance policy which was ultimately cheaper than the previous mainsteam non modified policy it was on. No needing to pretend or plead ignorance lol ;)

Meteor Grey ones come with extra 25bhp, Corrida Red ones an extra 35bhp but Black Magic (clue in the name) Pearl have an extra 50bhp as standard. Now everyone knows which are the fastest colour choice when choosing a Petrol Vrs, SIMPLY CLEVER.:envy:
