Engine Noise again

Featured Replies

I know this has been covered numerous times on this forum as well as the VW Up forums, but what is an acceptable noise from the engine?

The reason I ask is that I have recently purchased a used Citigo SE and the engine is very raspy. It doesn’t matter what gear I’m in or how fast I’m going, as soon as I accelerate I get a raspy noise from the engine. It’s almost as if the exhaust is blowing, however you can’t hear it outside of the car, only from inside.

I’ve visited my local Skoda dealer and the mechanic pushed down on the air filter and said give that a go, but it’s still there.

Is is this just something I have to ge used to, i’ve listened to a friends 2016 VW Up and it doesn’t sound like mine at all, but could this be because it’s newer than mine (mine is a 2013 model).

Has the heat shield above the exhaust fallen down onto the exhaust? This is a common problem and it’s quite noisy when it happens.
