Hello Jed thanks for the welcome. choice of engine is going to be a problem. My wife (who's car it will be) does at least 20,000 a year her current car Nissan  Qashai 50 MPG has 150,000 on the clock. So deisel would be the obvious choice. But is it? my concern is that of all deisel owners. emmision control in the future/ taxation on fuel/ restrictions on entering towns or cities. We are resigned to the fact that the car will be practically worthless when we get rid of it. So at the moment we are in a bit of a quandry. My gut feeling (perhaps) leads me toward the 1.5 TSI and suffer the poorer fuel economy. I shall have to look at the threads that discuss engine choice.

A warm welcome back to the Forum !  I have the Octavia 1.5TSI new in October 17.  I keep a comprehensive, fuel / mileage record and managed 44 mpg for 2018, mixed driving.

Hello. Thanks for welcoming me back to the Forum. Re: the MPG you are getting from your 1.5 TSI. It's not bad, I think we might be able to live with that. I should add whilst our Qashqai obviously is approaching it's sell by date..... We are still not sure whether we will be in a position to buy a new or nearly new car. My wifes current contract runs out at the end of March and as yet we are not sure that she will be offered an extension. Out of interest we were considering buying a Kia Sportage.....That was until I parked next to a new Karoq in the supermarket car-park and had the briefest of conversations with the owner. I'm hoping to bump into him again and hope he will allow me a little more of his time. Once again thank for you kind welcome.
