VRS TSI odd fault..any ideas?

Featured Replies

My 2015 TSI VRS has an odd fault this morning ... got to work (about a 15 mile fast b roads) just going into the car park and it came up with maximum limit 4000 rpm. (At his point nothing had changed from the ordinary) .. before I parked I turned it off and back on again fault cleared but when I was just parking the temp shot straight up to nigh on max within a second or so and he fans came on full blast.

On the way home tonight nothing wrong and a "spirited" drive home faultless ... but as I got home stopped to drop off a letter at a post box drove 200 metres up the road and as I was parking again temp shot up to nigh on max within 2-3 seconds and fans on full blast. Temp has been bang on normal at all other times.

Last week the water level dropped and alarmed but I topped that up and it's still full .. No temp increase or warnings then

Any ideas?

Water pump, not common with the TSI but sounds very similar to the TDI problem

You don't state how many miles your car has covered but agree with NOAIM about probable cause. Once had a water pump fail at 10.000 miles on a SEAT Ibiza Gti 16V.:nerd:

Sounds just like that service and mot due in a month or so so guess I'll.be bringing that forward!

It's 45000 miles so seems to fit in with what others have said

My water pump failed, 17k 66 plate vrs tsi. Covered by skoda warranty.

Just as an update apparently it's the thermostat housing that's causing the problem not the water pump .. deeler still has it at the moment (4 days and waiting) .. awaiting part so I'll update properly when it's actually back on the road ...maybe a fight on our hands though to ensure its under the used waruntee apparently (brought approved used 6months ago)
