Just FYI, I performed the micro switch fix on my golf Mk7 and I needed to clear the error after. Not sure if the error would have disappeared by itself. I called VW who put me through to parts department and they said you needed 'coding' to clear the error... My assumption was he meant clearing the error.

That is strange, thought all VAG cars would store this fault as I saw on my partners golf mk7 with it. I plugged in my OBDEleven and can even see the number of times it has occurred. I guess its either buy a OBDEleven (or similar) to scan yourself (think it was about £30-£40 direct), or wait for the error and get a photo as evidence (ofcourse be careful as you are driving). Edit: oops sorry misread your post completely. Ignore my comments haha

My switch has arrived today, looks fairly easy to fit, just getting the trim off and hoping the car doesn't roll down the street!
