Diagnosing a sqeak!

Featured Replies

In october 2018 i had a rather annoying squeak when going over bumps, usually a sharp squeak, like if you punched a hamster and it let out a squeal of pain. Took the car into my dealer, they charged me 70 odd to re-grease the gearbox mount. That solved it, so i thought.

In december, the dogbone mount had failed, allowing the engine to rock quite freely, (i was able to push it back and forth with my bare hands maybe 2 inches each way.) and i replaced the bushing with a powerflex bush, knowing those cause cabin vibration, i went for the softest one available, which was listed as being for diesels.

That solved the rocking issue, though introducing some minor vibrations into the cabin, i was happy that it had fixed the clunky bangs as the engine flopped about in the bay.

I also had the front/rear wishbone bushes replaced, as the passenger side was split and causing problems when accelerating/braking.

Now another month on, my car has now developed a loud graunchy squeak from the same place as the original squeak. Though this time a different noise.

Any clues as to what it is?

Video of recording (will need volume up to hear, gets better near the end)

I’ve since had it inspected, the only original part left around the wishbone was the front bush; replacing it with SuperPro SPF1915K bushes when it stops being awful weather. At the same time ill be replacing a failed engine mount too.
