Facelift Fog lights on pre facelift?

Featured Replies

Hello there

been searching for this on here without luck!

I have an 2009 Superb, (pre facelift), with the one bulb H8 Fog light

I have wondered for A long time, what the exact difference is on the FL and mine, and how it Works on the facelift version (H8 + P21?)

I have a w5w T10 (position light bulb) in my headlights - in the daytime i’ve coded my Fog lights and the T10’s to light..

(see picture - old picture, today its all LED)

As far as I’ve gotten to understand, the FL does not have that bulb in the headlights and actually uses the P21 (?) bulb in the Fog lights as DRL/positioning light ?

has anyone fitted the FL fog light on their PFL?

Considering changing the fog lights to the facelift ones, cutting the H8 to change the Fog light to the outer P21w, and the new H8 to the main beam/far light/ just to aid....

(once took out a deer in my old Audi, so realy want the lighting to be great on the Dark roads, and the fl foglights just does something on the look!)

thanks in advance!

You're correct in that the later versions of the pre-FL Superb (2010>) gained dedicated DRL's in the front fog light housing, H8 (fog light) P21W (DRL).

The side/parking/position bulb (W5W) remains unchanged, as with the rest of the bulbs, inside the main headlight.

The OEM set-up during the daytime is the P21W DRL's only, no position lights turned on too.

The later lighting units are a direct fitment into the bumper, but you'll need the bulb holders too, and to modify the wiring as well. Once they're wired up, presuming your CECM supports dedicated DRL's (it should as early MkII Superbs utilised dipped headlights to perform the DRL function) then it will be a case of using VCDS (or similar) to code them to work properly.
