Fabia scout 1.6tdi idling issue

Featured Replies

Hi.
I've Got a 2010 scout 1.6tdi with an idling issue.
The car starts fine and revs at approx 900rpm for a minute or so then drops to 5-600 rpm and hunts from here to 900 rpm until the blue temp light goes out then idles perfectly around the 600rpm mark with no issues whatsoever.
Has anyone experienced this problem and what might be the root cause?
Many thanks

Bit puzzled here. Are you just leaving it idling until the blue temp light goes out?

If so, how long does it take before the light goes out?

From memory, my  61 plate 1.6TDI  CR90 (sold at 18 months old) from cold took a mile or so (or even more in the winter cold weather) before it even started to get anywhere near running temperature.

Please clarify

600rpm sounds slow to me.  My 1.6TDi ticks over at around 1100 rpm for maybe 10-15 seconds after starting from cold then drops back to 800rpm.  Only exception to the 800rpm tickover is during a DPF regeneration (1000 rpm), when the car is rolling to a halt in neutral (900 rpm) and in really cold weather until it gets fully up to temperature (1000 rpm).

Like every other diesel engine I have owned the 1.6TDi is very slow to warm up.  Before I retired, my drive to work was 8 miles of mostly downhill and on the flat at 40 mph and NSL and in winter the temperature gauge was still not up to full temperature.

Hi.

Car is stationary on the driveway.

Fast idle for 1 min then drops down and hunts between 5-900rpm until blue temp light goes out then idles nicely around 600rpm.

I only noticed it when i started it up one day and left the car to demist after a cold snap.

It does it every start up now regardless of weather etc.

So after you actually start your journey, what is the 'normal' distance that you travel - IE to work = X miles etc.

i had a similar issue to mine. It would hum, fluctuate for a minute or so on start, but as soon as you touched the throttle and give it a few revs it would go fine. Took it to Skoda and they said..."it needs injector adjustments". They plugged it in, did a few adjustments on VCDS or whatever they use and it's spot on now.
