That's for the hatchback (1228 litres with the back seats down). The estate has 448/1412 litres.

Fuel tank capacity is 63 litres, which compares to 55 litres for the RS.

Oops, you were asking for the hatch anyway! Oh well, better safe than sorry...

I actually posted that but since receiving a new brochure now I'm not so sure!!!

As the hatch is discontinued there is no data in the brochure, but they have left some dimensions pertaining to the 4x4 hatch in the diagrams.

I reasoned that as the estate looses 100L of boot space as a 4x4, then the hatch would loose about the same (528L to 428L). However, the dimensions in the brochure would seem to me to indicate a capacity nearer to 400L....

Also the 4x4 estate has a 63L tank vs 55L for all other models, but I wonder if the 4x4 hatch also had a bigger tank?

I haven't managed to squeeze 428 milk bottles in yet, but the Dutch brochure says 428. as you know it's still being sold here. Having been on holidays twice with the car - short holidays, but with a small kid's stuff to tag along - I can definitely say that the boot provides ample space!

It does. Again, according to the Dutch brochure, that is. I usually have no problem doing 600 kms on one tank without hitting the red zone, while my fuel consumption is usually 1 litre for 10/11 kms. So does anyone know how much litres of fuel the red zone is worth?

Is the fuel indicator independent of the trip computer?

i.e. does it:

a) Just show the petrol level in the tank?

- or -

B) Ask the trip computer how many miles it thinks are left in the tank, taking MPG into account, and indicate accordingly? (i.e. in the red = 40 miles or so left)

Good question, wouldn't know!

I just had a mild panic about the hatch I put a deposit on when I opended the new brochure, thanks for putting my mind at rest!

No problem - I'm sure you won't be disappointed when the car is handed over to you. Mine hasn't let me down for a second... yet. :D

On mine it always seems to go off when the needle reaches the same point on the gauge, rather than depending on the number of miles left in the tank. It might just be coincidence though...

Rob.

"The fuel level warning light comes on an remains on if there are only about 7 litres of fuel in the tank."

The most fuel I have ever managed to put in was 57.07 litres, at which stage the fuel light had just come and and the trip was indicating range left as 30 miles.

Thanks Denis, for looking that up.

So 55 litres used up when you hit the red. 600 kms on 55 litres - fits in neatly with my 11 kpl (30 mpg) average.

Your 428L figure for the 4X4 Hatch is correct, as is your supposition that it has a 63L fuel tank - of which 8L is reserve. Non-4X4s have a 55L fuel tank including a 7L reserve. (Source: Skoda Octavia Technical data booklet)

I got 60.92 litres in the tank last week (4x4 estate)

Not something I make a habit of !

I put 55 litres in my tank this morning ...

(yes it's a 55 litre tank :D)

Grumble grumble, still can't get a pigging full tank. Even pressing that silly little button thing for what seems like an eternity. Another quick squirt then CLICK. OK, I could spend 10 minutes squirting 10ml in at a time, but life's too short!
