How do I choose correct window motor?

Featured Replies

I have a 2008 Mk2 1.4 tdi with a failed driver's side window motor and am looking to buy a 2nd hand replacement.

I bought one with the same code ( 6Q1959801F ) which had come off a VW transporter. It looked identical in every way but would not work, despite the seller assuring me it had been tested.

I've since read that these items are coded to the convenience unit, so you need to get one from an identical donor vehicle.

Does anyone know if that is correct and, if so, how do I know, from looking at the part, whether it is correct  if the part numbers can apply to different makes and models?

That number is a drivers door but Left hand drive drivers door or right hand drive passenger door.

6Q1959802A is driver door Right hand drive..

Not sure where you read these need coding...........not to my knowledge anyway.
